About Tanya Hollis

Specialist in kind and careful communication

A career devoted to journalism, public relations and marketing has made me a sought after comms specialist.

It has also made clear the type of work that motivates me.

Communicating for connection

All communication is about connection, but sometimes it requires a special touch.

People whose stories need to be held and shared with care.

Subject experts whose knowledge must be interpreted with clarity and nuance.

I work with clients in the health promotion, medical research, disability and social sectors.

Like them, I’m all about building a fair and inclusive world. One that celebrates the diversity of the human experience.

Communication tools to support your social impact

Journalism finds and tells your stories in an engaging and interesting way.

Public relations sings your praises in the right directions.

SEO content helps your people find you in search engine results.

Marketing writing connects your stories to your mission and business goals.

Understanding of inclusive language and WCAG ensures you respect your communities’ needs and expectations.

In-person comms expert for the Geelong region

With clients in Melbourne and interstate, I can work with you wherever you are.

But if you’re after some in-person face time and you’re based in Geelong or on the Surf Coast, know that I’m just around the corner.

Meet Tanya Hollis

Tanya Hollis smiles at the camera. She is seated at a small table. On the table is a coffee percolator and cup.

From metro daily newsrooms and niche industry publications to world-leading medical research institutes and hard-working non-profits, I have built my communication toolbox across many years and settings.

I have been part of large marketing departments, led comms teams and worked as an independent freelancer.

My working style is fast, accurate and responsive.

You mightn’t hear me spouting ideas at our first meeting. I prefer to listen, ask questions, take things in and let them percolate into solid and satisfying solutions.

Based on Victoria’s Surf Coast, I’m grateful to live, work and play on Wathaurong Country.

I’m a coffee lover and a cat person. Chooks come a close second.

My academic creds include a BA (Journalism) from RMIT University, and a GradDip (Public Relations) from Deakin University.

Work with me for accessible, inclusive comms

Content accessibility and inclusive language are embedded in my communications.

Work with me and be confident that your diverse audiences stay front of mind.

Does your organisation aim to:

  • create inclusive and accessible content
  • reject stereotypes around age, gender, race, culture, disability, neurodivergence and mental illness
  • communicate within the social model of disability
  • prioritise people’s abilities
  • avoid ableist narratives
  • understand and reflect changing language preferences.
